I am a noob when it comes to building, but think i know enough to connect things together...long story short, everything powers on, all fans running but the monitor screen is black. My build is

intel i7 920
asus p6t
sapphire radeon 4850x2 2gb
ocz platinum 3x2gb
WD caviar HDD

GPU is in PCI slot 1. when i power on, everything comes on. I see all the lights and all of the fans are working. I DO NOT have a case speaker so I don't hear any beeps. I ahve tried reseating the GPU. I have tried booting up with 1 stick of RAM...I am lost now. Any help would be appreciated.

ok...new problem...i am trying to install vista and get stuck on the splash screen...any ideas?

What do you mean by "stuck"? A lot of people just don't give it enough time to do its thing. There are times during the Vista install where it appears to hang, just give it some time.

If the computer is actually freezing, you might need to manually set the RAM speed/timings/voltage to the manufacturers specs in the BIOS. In fact, it's always a good idea to manually set these even if you're not having problems.
