Webcam problems

Hello,
I am having problems with my webcam which is windows xp compatable.
After usage then shutting down the computer when I restart I can get on line but cannot connect to the internet unless I do a system restore to a previous day.
My computer is regulary updated to windows xp

Can anyone please help me? this problem is driving me mad

Check to see if you have any errors reported in the event log for when you shut down, notated with RED X.
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

You may have done something that day to mess up your settings, one idea would be to uninstall and re install your Ethernet/wireless driver. Or go through your internet properties and troubleshoot.

Thankyou for your replies, the problem is now solved,seemed a free download of AVAST was conflicting.
I have now purchased AVG antivirus and all is running well.
