New build Graphic Card Problem

I built my new system last night a core i7. I think i have the leads in the right place etc. However when i connect my monitor to the powercolor 4870HD graphic card i get nothing on the display. i have connected the card to the
pci-e x16 slot, however on the back of the card are 2 other connector sockets. i connected 1 of my PCI-E power cables to the back but nothing happen do i need to connect 2 PCI-E power leads ro the back? or none at all? Also the fan on the graphic card does not spin.

Yes, you need to plug in both power connectors. This checklist may also come in handy:

You really need to make sure you carefully read all the manuals that come with your hardware. The manuals would have told you to install both PCI-E power connectors to your GPU.
