Components: Intel Core i7 920 @stock w/stock cooler
3 GB corsair 1066 MHz ram
Radeon 4870 512mb (tried two of these)
1 Seagate 7200.11 750GB drive
OCZ Stealth X Stream 600w
I built a computer for a friend a few months ago, and since then we have been trying to find what is causing his problem, which consists of: freezing, not at any set length of time, or any one known event. It does freeze when, in xp one attempts to change the resolution.

What I have tried: Changing graphics cards, though both were Radeon 4870's. I tried both slots on the MB, and it seemed to allay the freezing but not stop it.
Using only one of the three sticks of ram. (ran memtextx86+ with no errors)
Reinstalled multiple versions of windows, xp, vista, Win 7.

Anyone have suggestions? What might be the problem?

You should try doing A bios update, that what I usually do fist when I have an unstable board.

Also try using the default bios setting first and see how stable it runs and then start fiddling with it ;)
