I'm buying this motherboard but my power supply unit just has a 4 pin 12 volt connector not the 8 pin 12 volt thats shows on the mobo manual... it will run? any experience?

If the manual lists it as a requirement then no. If that's not clear, then most likely not: your PSU will end up underpowering your mobo, frying it.
