EC Firmware

hello all,

I'm new to this community and thanks for having me.


I purchased a MSI mobo ( 790FX-GD70) for a new build and in the bios it has EC firmware, i know it has to do with the cpu but what exactly? it has two settings Normal and Special. Can you all shed some light on this for me and also let me know what setting would be better for performance?

Maybe you can check the manual? Seriously, check the manual. If you lost your copy, there should be one available from MSI's website.

oddly guys the user manual says absolutely nothing about it, ive searched the net and cant really find anything....perhands i should contact msi?

i have a amd 965 so i guess i wont be needing that option ( however i just might get the 550 as a back up cpu, if i get lucky who can beat a 4 core clockable to 3.8 for around 100 bucks)

ive been building comps for a while now and i should of dug deeper on the net for that


i cant believe i got my 965 oc'd to 3.8 and runs 25c at idle
