I read this thread and damn near creamed myself. This is a great idea. I'm actually planning on adopting it myself and tweaking it a little bit.

For example, I'm going to have a cap that I can spend per paycheck, but if I don't reach that cap, that money is going to rollover into the next paycheck. That and I'm going Intel. Should I call my little endeavor Project Intel? Haha, in any event, thanks for the idea. Perhaps I'll use this thread to keep you posted on my progress.

On the motherboard try MSI 790FX-GD70, www.hardwarezone.com done a test out the three 790FX motherboards, they gave them a 4.5 rated. It is little bit chepter at newegg.com, cost $179.99 + shipping.

Hello !

Best bang for the buck!

1.Why not upgrade you first build? Since ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe wireless edition is good mobo and it can handle Phenom II. ( I have the same MOBO )

2. Then add phenom II x3 720 or x4 940

3. Maybe 8 GB of ddr2 800 cl 4 ( VISTA 64 )

4. It can handle raid also. Raid 0 (Striping)

5. since you a likely to be a GAMER you need uppgrade graphics, maybe 4870X2
since ATI/AMD project....

6.Sound: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro ( NICE !! )

7. Old PSU: OCZ 600W migth just be enought...

save---save----save-----save-----bargain----bargain---- bargain----

The Phenom II 920 is actually a little cheaper so I would go with that over the 810.

AMD Phenom II X4 920 $164

Well, if you want a dedicated audio card I would personally go with

ASUS Xonar D2X 7.1 $199.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132005

or if that's too much

ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 $89.99

I like the Xonar cards and plan to get one myself soon. Then again I warn you that I am a little anti-creative ever since the whole "Daniel K" incident.
