Processor running at 800mhz instead of 3ghz

Forum CPU & Components : CPUs Processor running at 800mhz instead of 3ghz

I've just recently purchased a new processor and motherboard. The processor is a AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz Everything runs perfectly fine, but for some reason my processor is only running at 800 mhz instead of 3ghz.

Here's the processor: and here's the motherboard:

Anyone know what's wrong? =(

The processor is bad and potentially dangerous - subject to spontaneous combustion*. Carefully remove and package in original box with a $50 disposal fee and mail it to:

Newegg accidentally shipped you an 800mhz AMD Athlon 1.

Get a RMA

Um my computer reads the name correctly, just the 800 mhz that's wrong. The box it came in was correct and all.

They are messing with you |:P

CoolnQuiet turn down your cpu frequency for maximum power saving.

I've disabled CoolnQuiet in bios and changed the power settings for high performance, still no go. =/

This is about the fifth thread he has posted under different names.

This is my first day on this website, how is it my fifth thread? I'm just looking for a solution to my problem, sorry to bother..

Here is a test. Try running Prime95 and your processor should clock up to 3.0Ghz if it doesn't then there is a problem. So just check the clock speed wile running this program.

It stays at 800 mhz. =/ I'm thinking that I need to do somethings with the jumpers, not sure how that works -- perhaps change the multiplier to 15? It's at 4...

That is your problem exactly, set it to your cpu speed / 200 so 3 ghz/200 = 15 :)

Where can I find/do that? :X

I think the X4 945 comes with a locked multiplier...So he cant raise the multiplier manually...Correct me if am wrong...

What version of the Bios is on the board.

According to the cpu support list for your board that cpu is only supported by the P1.40 Bios

I am running the P1.40 Bios. It detects my card but for some odd reason at 800 mhz and not 3 ghz. I've tried changing the multiplier in bios from 200 x 4 to 200 x 15 to get the 3ghz, but my pc doesn't load up if I do. I was reading something about jumpers to change the multiplier? Anyone know? :X

Have you tried clearing your cmos?

Reply to Zanathon

What does that do? It's a brand new motherboard and processor :X and if it does do something, how do you do it?

Anyone? =(

Strange problem indeed..945 got its multi locked too..you can't change it. And running P95 also didn't throttle the speed up to 3Ghz.. usually its because of C&Q..no idea LoL.. try reflashing the bios to slightly older ones? see if its running @ 3.0Ghz or not..

Hmmm, how much does the geek squad usually charge?

I don't think that board supports an AM+3 125W.

If that's the case then my wouldn't work at all or no?

I have this same problem exactly, but with a different board, the ASUS m3n72-d.

Its locked like a Q6600. Locked to the lowest and highest multiplier it can hit. I can lower my Q6600 to 6x full time but only max it at 9x full time.

So he should be able to go into the BIOS and set it to 15x full time.

Did anything ever happen with this? I have the exact same problem with the same MOBO/CPU combo.

The bios even detects what the max multiplier and frequency is in the place where you switch between auto and manual CPU specs. (when set to auto it is greyed out is says CPU Max: 15x @ 3000Mhz)

I'm talking with Asrock support, but they are basically telling me everything I've already tried. (disable cool n' quiet, run CPUZ + Prime 95, try manual mode[doesn't post])

Reply to LORD_ORION

Here is the answer: From talking with Asrock

Yes, this board supports 125 watt processors, so a 945 and 955 should work. (It supports the AM2 125 watt processors)

In the event that it doesn't automatically scale up out of 800Mhz, you should try to set it manually.

In the event that this does not work, then there is some incompatibility between the CPU and the board, and you should RMA.

Asrock engineering will correct this problem in the next BIOS release.

A new BIOS was just released that addresses this problem.

I have the exact same problem, but i am running the Phenom 945 on a Jetway HA08 )hummer) motherboard.
I have read through the string of messages and guess that I also need to update my bios... I have been on to the Jetway site and there doesn't seem to be anything there????
Please help!
To summarise: mobo - Jetway HA08 - 790GX + 750SB
CPU - AMD phenom II 945
Problem - mobo picks up CPU at 800 MHZ, and no manual (in bios) or AMD overdrive tweaking can solve.
Many thanks to anyone who can solve this problem, or point me in the right direction of an improved bios.

I have this problem also,

Im running a Biostar TA790gx 128m and a Phenom II 955

im stuck on 800 mhz.

CoolnQuiet working..

its normal..

try to run PRIME95 (or another cpu stress test) with CPUZ open to see the magic.. rsrs

to disable CnQ go to bios...

HI I JUST INSTALLED WIN 7 64BIT WITH A PHENOM 965-3.4MGZ ON A ASUS MB AND ALL WAS OK
THEN PUT ON XP PRO 32BIT AS DUEL BOOT,AND I GOT--THE 965 3.4MGZ NOW RUNNING AT ONLY
800MGZ-------------SO ITS NOT MY MB --COULD IT BE THAT 32BIT AND 64BIT WORK IN A DIFFERANT
WAY-I CANT SEEM TO GET TO RUN ANY FASTER ....
