Hi newbie, but have been Laptop techie for years, just not with PC's and architecture, so question?

I have to upgrade the wife's Sony PCV RS322E (intel 865PE) , nothing amazing with 512mb of standard memory. Maximum is 2gb in 4 slots on the manual.

I want to upgrade to 2x1GB , but the specs only states 4x512mb, is there any reason why I can't use 2x1GB?

Will it only see half of the memory or not at all?

No overclocking is being considered.

Thanks in advance.

If the users guide says that not support 2x1GB, you only have an option....or if you want, buy a 1GB ram and make the proof
