Need to choose the best.....

Hi! :hello:

I've decided to purchase an SSD for my PC, but I'm unable to make up my mind on which one to pick.

I have a very tight budget so I have to stick within these parameters.
Size: Not less than 40GB
Price:Below $125

I've come up with two suitable SSDs,

1) OCZ Vertex Series SATA II 2.5" 40GB SSD
2)Intel X25-V SATA II 2.5" 40GB SSD

Which of these is better.........? If there are any other suggestions that fall within my price range please feel free to post them :)
Thanks in advance.

Work to save ten more dollars and buy a 64 gb Crucial SSD for$135 at Newegg.
(I forgot to mention that they are sataIII ! and backward compatable).
  2. I Can't exceed my budget bro.... for where I come from, $10 is pretty big.... :( It took me a long time to collect $125! :)
  3. Where are you from and what's your local currency?

I'm From Sri Lanka. Local Currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR) :)
  5. Frankly speaking, a 40GB SSDis too small considering an OS install of Windows 7 is huge! But the thing is the OS partitions bloat in size with time due to temp files, software installations and other factors. The best you can do is to save a little buy a bigger drive. I am from India. We have 60GB SSD's at around 12000 INR.
  6. Well I was planning on installing a 64-bit Win 7 in it.... Was gonna use the SSD purely for OS no more.... Will it be insufficient??
I have 2 500gb HDDs for regular software and games.
12 000 INR = 30,050.92 LKR!! I could buy an 80GB Intel SSD with that much of money!
  7. What is your budget in LKR then?
  8. I'm not buying it from Sri Lanka. I'm planning on getting it from UAE.....
  9. Then you may get it cheaper. I am not sure about the price there. but anyways, told you everything i know. Now its up to you.
  10. :) Well, I'm hoping that myself. I'll try to go for one with a larger capacity if it is cheaper there.

But tell me, Is 40GB really insufficient for Win 7 (64-bit)....... with only the OS installed on the SSD.

Just installing OS is fine. But that is half the task of an SSD. Probably you would be better off installing your frequently used apps and games in there as well. Then you would really notice the zippyness!
  12. :) I was just browsing around the site, and guess what, found my answer!

Thanks for your help bro. I decided to go for either the Crucial RealSSD 64GB(If price falls within my range), or Intel X25-V 40 GB.

Now "how am I gonna pick the best answer??" is my other question.........!
