My 160 gb wd external drive is showing in my disk management but icann

Hello,
My 160 gb wd external drive is showing in my disk management but icannot initialized. I already upgrtade the driver, and is up to date. its not showing in my desktop and other laptop also. Help.

Does it show up in the lower part of the pane but not the upper part?

If so, you need to right-click on it, create a volume and format it.

It shows up in the lower part, it is labeled as Disk 1 (unknown). When i right click on it shows only>> initialize>> Offline>> Properties. Thats it, no format or Volume option.

You need to initialize it and it will allow you to partition and format it. Use the option for a basic volume, not a dynamic volume when initializing.
