Paste does not work in windows xp

Hello,
i have a virtual pc where i can copy to the clipboard but when i try to paste the option is greyed out, also ctrl v does not work. Any Ideas?

1. the copy operation never happens
2. you are trying to paste to a field that doesn't allow clipboard input
3. you are mismatching environments and clipboards do not get carried over from one to another
