I am building a Supermicro Server 6015t and the processor I have is a Intel E5462 with a 1600 MHz bus speed and the M/B is 1333Mhz and it won't boot . Is this possible? I tried a E5430 with 1333Mhz and it booted right up, is this the problem?

You may need to flash the bios to get your new cpu working. Check supermicro for a "cpu support" section and see if your cpu is listed.

Already did update from Supermicro, it is at least six months old. I am still running the E5430 Proc but the E5462 still won't boot.

it should work as far as i know, but might be underclocked since the base clock it should run at is out of range... but since it doesn't i'd check if the bios version your board has supports this chip.

sorry... forgot to hit submit when i was done typing and by the time i did i was reapeating what was already there.
but, if you've already flashed using the most up to date bios version, and your board is fsb1333. if your chip isn't listed on the supported processor list you might just be out of luck.
