I have a AMD phenom II 940 i currently use a Foxconn A79A-S but the overclocking is pretty bare. Also it doesnt support me upgrading to the 965 soon.


So what i am looking for is a motherboard that will support my phenom II 940 and allow me to later upgrade to the 965 and has great capabilitys of overclocking. gonna be using the Prolimatech Megahalems CPU Heatsink http://www.frozencpu.com/products/ [...] 48c369s813

and have memory coolers and use a ATI HD4870x2

any help would be appreciated

If you want to get the best board for overclocking, the no doubt get the 790FX
ASUS M4A79 Deluxe AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX

But if you are planning for a moderate overclock, then even this would suffice...

But I would suggest you to try and sell the CPU, mobo and RAM and then get the new CPU, RAM and Mobo all AM3 - DDR3...

hmm like the asus but it takes DDR2 shouldnt i be looking for a DDR3 board

^ You can use that mobo but cannot reuse the CPU...The 940 wont fit AM3 socket...So you would have to change the whole platform...
And if you are planning for an overclock, I would suggest the 955 over the 965...It is not worth the extra $45...
