I need to know why these connectors are important and why can the Graphics Card run on its own without communicating with each other?

From what material are they even made of and how do they transfer data between Cards?

Wouldnt it be better if you could plug whicheve card you wanted in an open pci express slot and let er rip? This would allow wth infinte possible combinations o cards and things would be more flexible and less incompatibilities.

What do you think?

If you have two blind people working on different part of a project and they don't speak to each other, how are they going what part the other is working on and how fast they are doing it?

I see. let' me make this question more practical. Is it possible to have different cards installed on my board withou them being connected and have them work for different use? For example can i have a geforce and have it work for games and on another slot have a quadro and have it for CAD applications?

But how can i set which one will be used each time?

You can have dual monitors with one video card with two ports. You can have an extended desktop and run different programs on each screen.

As far as I know you can't mix professional workstation graphics cards and gaming cards.
You could save by using gaming cards. See here:

I think the biggest problems would be drivers,
