From what I understand is that the 2 brothers that were charged back in 1998
had legally obtained subscriptions from DTV. Those days the CRTC did not
outlaw it yet. Then they moved to stop DTV from selling subscriptions to
Canadians once numbers grew.

It will be difficult to approach DTV to knowingly subscribe to Canadians,
unless you find a broker to sub you legit. Still, that's considered illegal.
Plus, DTV said that it has no desire to come over the border to sell to
Canadians. I don't know about Dish. Maybe they will reconsider if the
verdict stands. Maybe the government will challenge...who knows. But right
now don't count on watching HBO anytime soon.
