Two different routers and wireless printing
I have a computer hard connected to my Comcast Business Class modem. The Default Gateway address is 10.1.10.1

I have a Ricoh printer with a wired connection to my Linksys E2500. The Default Gateway is 192.168.1.1.

The Linksys E2500 is plugged into the Comcast Business class modem. I need the computer connected to the Comcast Business class modem with the Default Gateway address of 10.1.10.1 to print to the Ricoh printer connected to the Linksys E2500.

Thanks

I have to say,- I never tried this but it could work:

assign a Static IP to the WAN side of the E2500 (like 10.1.10.254)

assign a Static IP to the Ricoh printer (like 192.168.1.201)

now do a port forward on the E2500 for port 515, 631, and 9100 for both UDP and TCP to IP 192.168.1.201

now install the Ricoh print pointing to IP 10.1.10.254

port 515, 631, and 9100 are the most common port used for printing

So this is what it should look like?

no port forward necessary on the SMC

Now I get it the "front desk computer" searches for the printer on 10.1.10.254. It finds the printer because the ports it uses to search for the printer are now forwarded to the Ricoh C2051 ip address which is 192.168.1.201. This is just so simple I wish I had thought about this. I will try this later today and let you know.

Emerald, I did it and it works like a charm. Thanks for this very obvious idea. I had to open the same ports on the SMC as I described in the image above.

glade to hear that it worked.

I am surprised that you had to do a port forward on the SMC since usually it effects only the traffic between the router's WAN and LAN ports.

I have a similar bu not identical issue. I have a home network connected to an adsl modem cum router (d-link 2640B) with 4 laptops wireless connected to each other and the internet, through this router. I want to add a network printer that I cannot physically connect to this router as it is in another part of the house. I have a spare netgear wgn 614v7 router lying around.

My plan is to physically connect the network printer to the netgear router and be able to print on it from the laptops connected to the d-link router. How can I achieve this? Shall be grateful for detailed instructions as my network knowledge is rather limited.

Thanks.
