Hitachi hard drive wont boot

Hello, I tried to put a slave HDD on my system and must have had the wrong pins set. now the boot sector on the master just clicks and will not boot. Is there any software to clean my master boot sector?

We need more info. Which OS are you using, XP, Vista, Win7, MacOS? Also, what make/model of motherboard do you have. Newer motherboards use SATA connections which do not require master/slave settings like the old PATA/IDE drives.
