One room, tripping another

My roomate and I live in a two bedroom first floor apartment of a house. His room and my room are on different breakers, when his breaker is off-I still have power and vice versa.

Whenever I turn my computer on in the morning, just my computer, it trips his room and everything in his room shuts off, I don't even notice until he says something. He can turn all of his electronics back on without a problem so long as I don't restart my computer.

We havent tried this the opposite way yet but I am curious why his room trips, and the kitchen, bathroom and living room all continue to work fine which sometimes power a 42 inch TV/washer/dryer and dishwasher.

I think this is less a problem for computer enthusiasts Samps, and more for a certfied electrician! Have one visit your house, and look over your apartment's electrical system.

Hmmm strange, possible some lazy electrician decided to borrow a neutral or something like that?

Uh, yeah you don't need to be posting about your problem here.
gregor is very close to hitting the nail on the head. You may have seperate breakers, but somewhere they did indeed "borrow" something, like a neutral wire for both sides, or they may have even borrowed a 220 leg to get 110 to your side.
Either way, it has not been done right, or to code.
Call your landlord and explain the problem.
If they are decent people, they will be concerned as well, and have it fixed immediately before the house burns down.

This is an issue for an electrician.

------------------------------ Trying to make up his mind whether the current situation is due to an overabundance of high quality pharmaceuticals freely available on the Internet. ...or not enough of them.

The weird thing is that your computer and room have power. That means you are not on the same cirquit. In this case, if your system was the one overloading the mains it would be your room that powers down.
