I posted in the wrong forum before, so I'll repeat it here.

I am planning to replace the stock monitor on a Dell Dimension 4700 with the 2007FP monitor. I've been told that since my configuration does not include a video card I must add one to get the full resolution of the 2007. Based on the best information I can find, I have open PCI Express X16X1/ PCI Express X1X1/ PCI1X1 slots. Any suggestions on a video card that would allow me to make the upgrade? I am not a gamer.

Oops, sorry jaguarskx, I'm mistaken. I checked the Intel PDF on the subject and it can indeed support a "2048x1536 at 85 Hz maximum resolution", which is more than enough for the 2007FP monitor.

A 4350 should suit you fine. The second card listed isn't fan less which means it'll produce more noise, but won't overheat if your case has really poor airflow.

Your Dell has an Intel 915G chipset which has an integrated 900GMA video controller. You do not need to buy a video card unless you plan on gaming.

Whoever told you your configuration does not include a video card is an idiot. How else could you have used the stock monitor?

Please note that if you plan to upgrade to a 1920 x 1200 resolution monitor in the future, then you will need to buy a video card since the 915G chipset cannot handle that resolution.

The monitor has a native resolution of 1600 x 1200, which exceeds the maximum resolution the 915G chipset can support (1280 x 1024)

Really?

I must have been thinking about the 915GM chipset then which can support up to 1600 x 1200.

Thanks for your help, I'm learning as I go. I obviously didn't provide enough information. My chipset is 910GL which includes the Intel GMA 900. I've poured through the data but haven't been able to determine if that will support the 1600X1200 resolution. Do I still need a video card?

I bought the monitor and the 910GL provides the required support. Thanks.
