Hello fellow builders, I am building a new gaming/workstation (mostly gaming heh :p ) next week with a rather limited budget.
I was wondering if there's anything that can be more efficient - or if there's anything plain wrong.

My budget is 800-850 euro, might stretch it by another 100 euro's. This is what I got so far.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X3 720 BE 2,8GHz, 126,35 EUR

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P, 117,30 EUR

RAM: 4GB OCZ Platinum OCZ3P1600EB4GK (DDR3-1600), 68,75 EUR

GPU: Sapphire HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E, 176,00 EUR

COOLER: Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme, 23,45 EUR

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS, 640GB, 63,72 EUR

CASE: Antec Three Hundred, 48,67 EUR

PSU: Corsair TX750W, 103,88 EUR

OPTICAL DRIVE: Asus DRW-20B1LT, 26,47 EUR

All this adds up to ~820 EUR including shipping. I put a 750W PSU up there because I'm planning on adding a second 4870 in a while. Or would this be overkill for 22", with the future in mind? Also I'm not so sure about the price/performance of the new 4890, or is it really worth it. And what about the upcoming GTX275?

I am thinking of doing a moderate CPU OC, is the cheap Arctic-Cooling Freezer Xtreme enough?

Thanks for helping :)

Very nice build on AM3.

Coolers, your gonna need to look into the good stuff.

s1283v perhaps with the arctic silver 5 or arctic cooling mx-2.

crossfire'd 4870's on a 22" should be fine, what 22" are you running on?

I'm using a Samsung T220, so 1680x1050. I remember reading CF 4870 is not needed for 1680x1050, but I'd like to be able to keep up with new games for a good while. Reason I chose for AM3 too since it will be around for a while.

For coolers, I would get the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 or Scythe Mugen 2 before the AC Freezer Extreme, but its not a bad HSF, it will be enough for a moderate OC.

A 4870 might not be able to max out all your games currently, but 2 would definitely be overkill. I think you should think about going with 2 4850's xfired, which you could do on a cheaper 650tx. It will give very good performance and you will be able to max out all games at that resolution.

Maybe...I use a GTX 260-216 on a 19" 1440x900 monitor and in crysis it gets a little jumpy in action scenes. I think for all other games though it should be fine.

Yeah I'm fairly sure a single 4870 will be enough for the time being, it's just that I like to have some room for upgrades :)

Thanks for all the responses so far! I like the cooler suggestions.
