what do you mean by "idle doesn't work properly? does the computer boot at all. if not did you upgrade the BIOS before changing the CPU?

Reply to captaincharisma

yes i upgraded the bios and yes it does boot and if i leave it alone for 10-15 mins no programs running it freezes

does the PC recognize the CPU properly and not saying that is is an unknown processor or something like that

Reply to captaincharisma

everything works perfect except when it goes in to idle its a dell and its under clocked by default so i suspect that it is not getting enough power

Reply to nicknewbie27

do you mean it goes into standby mode or just freeze after a few minutes or so?

might be a setting in bios too i would try setting bios defaults and if that does not work try turning off some CPU features in the BIOS (if the dell BIOS will let you)

Reply to captaincharisma

it just freezes after a while and dell bios wont let you

Reply to nicknewbie27

Try turning off Speed step or any other power saving features.

Agreed. If the dell bios doesn't let you do that, try going into the control panel, then power options. Set it up so that nothing is ever shut down. No turn on monitor, no spin down harddrives, make sure everything is always on. Might help.
