I've captured some recorded TV using Media Center. I then used DVR2WMV to
convert them to WMV files. Once there, I used the Windows Media Encoder to
convert them for PocketPC. This gives me about a 55Mb file for a 30-minute
TV program.

I copied two of them to my Pocket PC 2003 (with the latest Media Player
update) Dell Axim 30, and was able to watch them fine. Two weeks later, I
repeated the process. However, now, when I try to watch them, I get the
audio but a black screen for the video. As far as I can tell, I followed the
exact same process to create the videos. I can't find any kind of adjustment
on the PocketPC Media Player that changes this. I have not installed any new
software on the PocketPC, just copied over some new videos. The videos all
play fine on my laptop.

Any ideas?

What is video codec of that file?
Open Tools->Properties.
WMP9 will play WMV8 and 9 for sure.

According to MP10 in the PPC, it's got Windows Media Video V8 and Windows
Media Audio 9.1. The audio format is 64kbps, 48Khz, 2-pas Cbr. The video
bitrate is 266kbps.
