Windows XP will not load unless bootable CD is in drive.

Hello
Chances are your harddrive is dead, enter the BIOS and see if it shows up,
check to see that it is seated in the case good.

When you place the CD in the drive you are not boot to the harddrive you are
booting to the rom drive.

Thanks for the reply!

Actually it is booting to the Hard drive. All programs and
files are accessible and appear to be functioning.

All data appears to be ok. This is really an odd one!

Some systems won't boot to the hard drive when the CD-ROM is first in line
in the boot sequence. Try setting the hard drive first in line and then see
if the system will boot. If it does, just remember, if you wish to
reinstall Windows and boot from the CD, you'll need to reset the boot
sequence.

When you boot the system, there's usually a message on the first screen or
an early screen wherein you are instructed to hit a specific key in order to
enter setup, when you see the message, hit the key, then navigate through
the screens to the boot sequence, set the hard drive first in line, save
exit, reboot and see if that resolves the issue.
