I just got my msi oc radeon 4890 in the mail today from zipzoomfly. I read online that there may be driver troubles, so I simply installed the drivers off the msi CD. My device manager isn't reading the card as a 4890, but simply labels it as being in the 4800 series. My catylist control center is version 2009.0303.2224.40202 if thats in any way related to it. Should I be using other drivers for the 4890, or have then not been released yet?

So far the card is doing pretty well. It was idling at the mid 50 degrees, but I upped the fan speed to 35% and now its at 45 degrees idle and upper 60s at full load.

Get gpu-z. free software, would show all details of the card.

All 4800 series cards show up in the device manager as "4800 series card" unless you use manufacturer altered drivers, like the crapshoot ones asus tries to make.

even ATI's driver page lists all the 4800 series cards under one entry. don't be concerned by that.

oh ok, thats good, I thought there might have been a problem. GPUz also labels it in the 4800 series. But it does say its an RV790, so thats good.
