ok this card is old, but i dont have to much money, lol.. anyway, i have:

4CoreDual-SATA2 R2.0 AGP4x/8x PCIe/4x
E2160
GeForce6800XT
Rosewill Stallion Series RD450-2-SB 450W

So what are your recommendations for a card between 100-160$

I was thinking on the AGP Radeon HD 3850 512MB, but the motherboard overview said that card is not supported http://www.asrock.com/mb/vga.asp?Model=4CoreDual-SATA2%20R2.0&s=775&c=VGA

which card should i buy?... sry for my english hehe..

I can't understand why people have posted such answers. The link you gave says you have a PCI-E slot and it supports a GTS 250. Then why the low-end AGPs? Get a 1GB GTS 250. Should be within your budget. The board does have a PCI-E slot. Forget about 4x, a GTS 250 is better anyday.

I would hate to see how that 4x is gonna limit him though :??:

Would make buying such an "expensive" gpu not worth it...you could get a cheap 16x mobo and go for a cheaper gpu and get better performance probably

No. He should be using the PCIe 4x slot.

This will limit your bandwidth unfortunately. I've never seen an article that showed exactly how much bandwidth individual cards actually used, though I'm guessing you'd be clipped just below the HD3850 (though you could still use it).

You might want to give your actual motherboard name and model so people can verify the specs. I find it odd that this CPU would be on a motherboard with only 4x PCIe support.

I'd also go up as far as an NVidia 9800GT. Again, I'd need to know your motherboard to be sure. The amount of RAM also impacts the games you can play, but I would never spend more than $200 on an obsolete system.

Well, he can get a GTS 250 and when he has enough money later on, he can upgrade his motherboard later on to fully utilize his 250. Makes no sense to get an AGP since it is locked down to his motherboard. Even if he has money for an upgrade, he'll have to change both his motherboard and his card.

He should just get the ATI Radeon 4830, for $80...no worries about bandwidth limitations there.

It performs at the same level of the 8800GT/9800GT, and with some good OCing, almost performs at the level of a 9800GTX/GTX+/GTX250 or 4850.
