Socket 754 motherboards are not worth upgrading it's true..one of friend upgraded its cpu and no performance increase nothing,,i recommend u to upgrade for lga 775 socket.[may be asus p5q pro] and cheap core 2 duo's[ e7200 0r 7400's] should do it...ok anyway ur m-board comapatible cpu's [AMD Athlon 64, AMD Sempron]

Pop some extra memory in if you've only got 1Gb or less, that should be a cheap upgrade. Uninstall any apps you dont need, and also for startup applications that arn't needed.

Don't invade other people's posts. To answer your question, Extreme processors are definitely NOT worth the money and you can just overclock your e5200 a heap or buy a cheap Q8200 and overclock that heaps too. QXxxx's are not worth the money. The CPU you've got now is a great overclocker. Reach for the sky.
