Upgrade sound card- music or gaming?

I have an old Nvidia card and I want to upgrade to something newer. I already have surround speakers, but I'm wondering if I should get one more for gaming or for playing music. I don't play many FPSs and I always have music playing while I game anyway. I also watch a lot of videos and movies so surround sound is still important to me. I've looked t a bunch of Creative cards, but a lot of people here say there are some better ones for both gaming and music. I'm wondering what suggestions people have for a movie watching casual gamer that listens to music while gaming.

Any help is appreciated!




PS- I also have no interest in making music or movies so no need to consider cards for that

the asus xonar d1 is a great card for music and movies and it's only about 80

I got an HT Omega Striker for 80$. It got EAX support for games, DTS support for HTPC and a great equalizer for music and overall sound quality. The best sound card under 100$...

The sound is really clear and crisp... you cannot ask for more at that price.
