DELL LAPTOP HARD DRIVE NOT DETECTED

hi all. my 600m laptop was sitting idle for a long time, felt quite warm to the touch and the bios showed no hard drive. thinking it had to be replaced, i replaced it w/ a wd1600beve scorpio like the replacement dell sells. still the bios does not find a hard drive. what's this mean?! thanks

seems like it's not the drives ??problem w/system board??
