what is a good air cooling system? i plan to OC my cpu to 4.0GHz

-CPU is i7 950
-mobo rampage iii
-RAM yea... i need help with that too
-7 case fans
-1000W PSU

+ can you direct me to nice thermal paste and a good heat sink too!

i have a $3200 budget for my computer

wow $3200 budget that's quite alot
firstly, cpu options: i would wait until sandy bridge comes out in a few weeks and see if they're better, second the gigabyte ud9 is a bit better than the asus rampage III
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Corsair Dominator you can ditch the fan because it's useless and go down in the range if you want
Another good set of ram would be Kingston Hyper-X sets

NOW
you might have to check RAM clearance but the promalitech megahalems is probably the best air cooler out there, run it in push/pull you'll get to 4.2 GHz no problems

if you want to go with the standard, get AS5 thermal paste

but if you wanna go out there, go for indigo xtreme, it's not on newegg but you can go on their website and find some dealers

Here is a great thermal paste

As for an air cooler try this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.B CPU Cooler

you'll need a good fan for this as well, you could try this fan as it receives good revues and pushes alot of air at reasonable noise levels.

Hope this helps and enjoy the build!

With $3200 budget why don't you go with liquid cooling?
December 15, 2010 11:38:41 AM

i don't want to put up with liquid cooling and i would rather spend the $300 for liquid cooling on buying a graph card that is $200 more and high-end parts. i just spent 200 on a monitor so now i only have 3000 left in my budget for this computer.

thanks!! for all of you responses
