This is the machine I am building (4830 ATI grahics card)

And this is what the game box reads; (keeping in the Radeon family)

ATI Radeon(TM) series
9500, 9600, 9800
X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
2400, 2600, 2900
3450, 3650, 3850, 3870
4850, 4870

Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA)
GMA 3-Series, GMA 4-Series

So my question is, will my 4830 work with the Sims 3?
Can I downgrade to say a 4680 or something like that instead?

it will work just fine. the 4830 is a fully compatible Direct3D graphics card.

They probably hadnt released teh 4830 when they printed the specs is all. Its the same chip basically as the 4870/4850 anyway. It will work no worries.

What about an ATI Radeon HD 3200 card? Will that work for The Sims 3?
