Question is do i need to install cpu heatsink if i'am testing for a post? Will cpu overheat that quickly? Curious!

Yes. The CPU will heat up that quickly.

Besides, I have long been in favor or installing the CPU and heatsink before I put the board into the case. It is easier to check for proper heatsink installation from both sides of the motherboard.

YES!!!! Only a few seconds of use could fry your CPU.

Cases are for peasants anyway, give me a good old bookshelf and a box fan anyday :)

Some of us breadboard the entire system before we put it into the case. I even install Windows. That lets me test all the parts before I go through the work of installing the components in the case.
