I can not decide what gpu to pick. I am not a serious gamer, but occasionally play games. But, i do a lot of photo processing. I need High def resolution and will watch mainly blu ray on pc. My previous 4850 does well for me, but i need a newer card.
When i compare 4870 and 4890, the price difference is not much. I kinda prefer to 4890 because it is newer and not that expensive. But, how about gtx 275, 260 and 280. I do not know which to pick.
I have corsair vsx 550 w psu. It has 41A on 12V rail. It works fine in overclocked Q6600 system with 4850 and 8gb.
I am building i7 system with the same psu. i am going to oc i7 to around 3.7 or 4. Do i need a new psu if i go with 4890 or 275?
Please advise me. This is the last part i need to decide.
Only a serious gamer would need to upgrade from HD4850 at present. there is no new technology in the never cards it is only a question of fps/resolution in never games.
I agree with rolli. For your usage, there's not much sense to upgrade the graphics until you actually have a game that makes the performance of your 4850 become too slow. When that happens, upgrade. Until then, I think you should be just fine.

Thank you for your thoughts. I sold my 4850, so i need another card. 4850 gives me what i need. But, since i do not upgrade card often, i want to buy something higher than 4850. I do not play game much, but ,when i play, i love playing at higher resolution. Any thoughts? I really appreciate your guys' comments.
Ummm......... Did you think about adding another 4850 before you sold that one?
Since what's done is done, I say get the 4890. You're PSU will be fine with one, but if you want to add another for crossfire then it would be advisable to get a better PSU since you will go with an I7 system. If you get a board that supports SLI then the 275 is not a bad option. It just depends on the games you play. I don't see a place for the GTX280 since the GTX275 provides just about the same performance for less.
