Hey guys,
Just wanting to know whether I should go w/ a GTX 275 or an HD 4890?
What about the FTW vs OC versions?

Here's my future system's specs. I'm pretty set in everything, and am decided on everything except the GPU's.
I'll be getting 2x so I can do either SLI or CrossFireX.

Opinions, comments, suggestions and guidance welcome.
Thanx!

Oh and, P.S. I've read that both the RAM speed limit and the QPI limit have been unlocked, hence the proposed modifications to such.

Or, where I'll be getting it in the near future, would it be worth it just to wait for either the GTX 300 series or the HD 5000 series?

How near? I think it better to wait, get something to tide you over for now. The new cards will be more feature rich, and more powerful

Hi there, both cards offer similar performance, but if i recall correctly i think the 2 4890s are slightly better. I have an i7 @ 4ghz and with 2 x 4890 xfx not overclocked and they are brilliant cards, play anything i want to play on highest settings.

swap that 9500 cooler for an akasa nero as zalman coolers are rubbish with LGA 1366.

Sweet. Thanks for the input.
Also, I read an article that showed how 2x HD 4890's were better when used with a Phenom II 955 BE, vs 2x HD 4890's with a Core i7 920.
Is that because the Phenom II and the 2x HD 4890's are both made by AMD?
Could the opposite be said for 2x GTX 275's when used with a Core i7 920, vs a Phenom II 955 BE? (The Core i7 920 being faster w/ 2x GTX 275's than the Phenom II 955 BE w/ 2x GTX 275's?)

I'm a fan of the 1) overall performance of the Core i7 920, 2) the OC capabilities, and 3) haven't heard as many good things about the Phenom's and Phenom II's.

Advice? Insight?

Thanks!

Nobody loves me? Haha
Anyone able to point me toward some benchmarks or something, reguarding my Core i7 920 + 2x GTX 275's vs Phenom II 955 BE + 2x HD 4890's question?

In multi card setup, a i7 is better in some games. Otherwise, both cards are equals, and it comes down to brand (guarantees) , prices and features
