They are both the same. The GTS 250 is just a rebranded 9800GTX+, so either one will have the same performance.

Time to start comparing cards but here is some general advice.
Look closely at the warranties offered, in the US and Europe EVGA, XFX and BFG give long warranties but this may not be true in India. Do not pay for overclocked cards and 1Gb of memory is not really needed on your monitor resoloution.

The amount of memory has to do with bandwidth. On a small monitor resolution, not much bandwidth is needed to get good performance. 1GB just becomes a waste of money at your resolution.

Overclocked versions are also a waste of money, because you can overclock yourself and achieve similar results.

The only real difference between brands is price, cooler, and warranties. You need to compare those before buying. The best brands that make Nvidia cards (IMO) are XFX and EVGA.

so what is the use of sli technology over gamming in small resolutions.......like mine 1360x768....and the differece b'ween factory overclocked and overclocking by user, value equalled to factory o.c'd.

SLI doesn't have much of a use for gaming in low resolutions because at low resolutions, a single card doesn't really need any extra help to perform. At 1360x768 a 9800 gtx+ will be capable of handling of practically everything you throw at it.
There are some exceptions though, like if you run demanding games at maximum quality (16x AA/AF incl.) and want 60+ fps or something. I have 8800 GTs in sli and I run crysis at 1280x960 - The second card gives me some 75% more performance, even though it's a low resolution. For the most part though, the uses of SLI/CF in a low resolution setting is pretty niche and limited.

As for video memory: It's kind of like a large storage box. You either have enough room in the box to store your things, or you don't, and how much spare room you have doesn't affect anything. VRAM is the same thing - you either have enough or you don't. Extra doesn't really help anything, and at 1360x768 you are not really going to need more than 512 MB. If you can find a 1GB model for little/no extra cost, it won't hurt, but it's not going to be a great benefit either.

At 1360x768, you don't need more than a HD4850/9800GTX. My 4850 can handle everything (except Crysis, of course) maxed out at 1440x900.

ehhh... High, yes, Very High no.

GTX 260 core 216 is needed if you want to play Crysis on Very High at an good framerate, with some AA on.

9800GTX+ at most can do Crysis on High with AA, maybe Very high, but the framerate in general won't be smooth enough to do so.

and yes, i play on the same resolution as the OP, that ever-weird resolution of 1360x768.

holy $hit...

It's highish for a 9800GTX+ card, but to max it out would require at least a GTX 260 core 216. Do they sell it in your area?

Stock cooler gives you minimal OC of 400mhz over stock, anymore than that requires a good Zaman or Xigmatek fan/heatsink.
