Comp showing old CPU.

I recently installed a Core 2 Quad 9550 in my desktop, but when I turn on my system the device manager shows the core 2 quad and my old dual core processor. Should i uninstall the dual core from the device manager or just leave it alone. Also, i know this is the wrong forum to ask this, but a Xfx nForce 750i motherboard will run a BFG GeForce GTX 285 OC2 card fine right? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone could help that would be great, I am unsure whether i should ininstall the old CPU showing up in the device manager or just leave it in there.

If it bothers you, just uninstall the drivers for the old CPU.

Does task manager show 4 threads? If it does, then its ok

Yeah it was showing four threads, I installed the dual core ones that were showing up though and they were replaced with core 2 Quad. Thanks for the help guys.

It will tell you exactly what to do. I just ran into the same issue moving from a Duo E6750 to a Quad Q6600. The solution above solved my problem
