Hey guys, im going to ordering my parts most likely on Monday, but im still hesitant on which graphics card i should go with.

i was set on the gtx 285, but theres also the 275 and 260... and 280 (although for some reasons, its more expensive than the 285 on the canadian sites im going to)

my monitor is a 24" at 1920x1200, and i dont think ill be upgrading for a bit... as ill be needing a laptop when i go to university / college. this is where most of the problem comes from - the 275 seems great now, but will it fall behind the 285 in the next year or so?

heree are the cards im looking at now:

Given your display, I really suggest you go for the 285. Although the 275 is ok for your needs, and it'll probably last you for a significant while, it won't let you maximize your 24" monitor like the 285 would. My $0.02.

yeh im leaning a lot towards the 285 right now. i read its more energy efficient and cooler, so thats a plus as well.

just wish the one that included CoD 4 and WaW didnt become deactivated for some reason :p

Get the 275. The difference between them is marginal, none are dx10.1 compliant and that is gonna hurt them equally when dx11 becomes standard and you realise you need to buy another new gpu in a years time.

you dont buy top cards for energy efficiency lol if you want fastest and can afford it, buy it, its all your preference, and think later if you want to SLI them eventually so check you PSU power to accomodate

jenny thats what i was considering. do you know when the new cards are coming out? i heard soon.

also, are the 275 and 285 basically the same as for games? i saw some benches and they were pretty much.
