I have a Dell Dimension 2550 with a celeron 2.0 cpu.I would like to change to a 2.8 p4 cpu. Has a factory mobo. Do i need to change anything or download anything first? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't find the specs for your 2550 motherboard. I would download cpu-z, a free program that will give you the chipset of your board. Then it will be easier to figure out the fastest cpu your board can run.

You can get the info that you need at dell. It will require the service tag number of the system. Here is the link: http://support.dell.com/support/to [...] ~ck=anavml
