How to set up new hard drive on emachine.

My montitor just shows the e I don't know what key to push to get it to boot the system disk from the cd drive. I left the bad HDD in and plugged it into the last plug on the ribbon. Is that the slave position?

I'm assuming you're trying to install windows on the new hard drive. The last plug on the ribbon should be the master position. Make sure your new hard drive is connected to it along with power. You don't need the bad hard drive, lose it and start your computer up. As it's booting press del and look through your BIOS options. You want to change the boot priority. Set your DVD drive as first priority and it should take you to the windows install screen.
