Can I use DDR2 ram with a Core 2 Duo CPU? The board im installing it on is a P5B-E with updated Bios

Yes, Your Motherboard is based on the P965 chipset.
It uses DDR2 RAM and does support the E8400 with BIOS version 1803 and higher.
