I'm making my first computer and im on a bit of a budget, I'll be using my computer mostly for gaming but I don't need to to be amazing or anything, just playable(unlike my current comp).

I made a quick list of the parts I'm thinking of going with, but as this is my first time building a computer i really don't know what I'm doing.

265 - cpu/mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.181190
-15 rebate
50 - ram - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184
-25 rebate
65 - hard drive - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148395

23 - optical drive - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106083

200 - video card/power supply - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.178964

100 - monitor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009166

110 - case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021

If anyone has any suggestions for lowering price without sacrificing to much performance or any suggestions in general that would be great.

You went overboard a bit on the CPU/mobo, so if you want to reduce price and not sacrifice performance then you could do this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.181191

That PSU you chose is way too much for your system. Something like this would be fine for you:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.178069

Get a better HDD, like this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218&Tpk=wd6400aaks

Now you can either pocket those savings, or put them into a better gpu and monitor.

Those suggestions come to about $805 with shipping, then you get $70 MIR

I don't know what your price range is, but I do know that build up above could use some help. Let's see what we can do here. :) Also please post a budget, and if that budget includes an O/S (Operating system/Windows). If your on a budget, remember to "shop around"...don't let newegg be your only source for hardware or your going to cheat yourself out of $$$ not to mention your going to end up with a crappier build than what you could have. Ok let's try this.....

1) You chose a nice looking case, but when your on a budget and the expense of the case takes away from the rest of your buid....well look for an alternative case that still looks decent, is inexpensive, and does a decent job ..sans cooling/ventilation/air flow, room, etc...

2) That 850w psu you have is great if your going to run something like 2 x gtx 285's in SLI...but your not. Try out this 500w down below. It's more than enough to push your rig including vid card.

3) The mobo and cpu combo you found is a great deal and all that, but it's over kill if you don't plan on over clocking with that board, and your not running a high end vid card. This board and cpu down below will allow you to push that E7400 up to 3.5GHz @ 1333 fsb (10.5 x 333) with a decent after market heat sink and thermal compound. But as it is, that cpu will do just fine for what you want it for, and it won't bottle neck your vid card.

4) Vid card: This gts 250 is twice the vid card you chose, and will allow you to play better games and not get hosed on the fps.

5) Memory...this G.Skill down below is what we call "solid memory". It's a rarity if someone ever gets a bad stick of this, and it's always compatible with just about every mobo out there. Good cheap solid memory that does what it's suppose to.

6) dvd/cd burner...you chose an EIDE burner...never ever choose EIDE anything. Always get the SATA due to airflow, ease of installation, etc....

7) Monitor...This monitor down below is a 19" wide screen, but it has a native resolution of 1680 x 1050...up from the standard 1440 x 900 for 19" wide screens. :)

8) I'm not sure if you have an O/S, so I put the link for Vista 64 Home Premium oem on this post.

My budget is around $700, I am willing to spend more but I'd like to stay around that area if i can.

As for the case, I could really care less about the looks, I just chose it because it was recommended to me. And when it comes to the power supply I really have no idea. I'm definitely gonna be checking out everything you recommended so thanks a ton for all the links/advice.
