ECS A780GM-A can't find cd drive

Hiya all.

I am attempting my first build for me.
I have a ECS A780GM-A mobo (Bios v2.x) with a 500watt PS running a Phenom 9600.
I have a system drive IDE 20 gb and an "everything else" drive of 300 gb IDE.
(And before you grrrr at me the 300 gb has a corruptted MBR that I cannot seem to repair but it work great if it is a slave.)
and it has a working floppy.

Bios recognizes both hard drives and the floppy.

I am trying to use a Philips SPD2415BD Cd/dvd Rom (IDE).
I have tryed using one hard drive and the Cd/Dvd rom , and the cd/dvd rom thru a ide to sata adapter with it attached to sata 1.


I know this is a good cd/dvd drive because I was using it in my last computer.

I am trying to load XP Pro.I made a set of setup XP floppies and they run.

I cannot seem to understand what I am doing wrong. I can't make the mobo recognize the cd/dvd rom so i can finish the build.
Please help me figure out this puzzle. Thank-you.
