2 Phenoms, same price. Which one to buy?

Newegg's giving out
Phenom II X2 550 3.1 GHz and the
AMD Phenom II X3 710 2.6GHz at the SAME price.
Now if I'm going to need a system that would mostly be for home purposes, watching some movies maybe, surfing, and running an IDE like Visual Studio sometimes, what should I go with?
I mean at the same price, one has one lesser core, but is 500MHz faster.
Advise please!

I am not looking at overclocking, so please take that into consideration. Just the factory speed.

for the your uses I would go with the higher clocked dual.

If you were willing to overclock the 710 slightly it would be a way better deal. If you don't want to though, BadTrip is right, the 550 best suits your needs.

think you got that the wrong way around Mage. the 710 would be the best stock option. if you run very multi threaded apps or maybe want to OC the 550 would be better.

The op is not running multi-threaded apps. The higher clock speed will benefit him more than an extra core.
