Right now I'm gaming on a 22in lcd (1680x1050) but may upgrade to a 24in.
I opted for the GTX 260 core 216 for now because it seems like it can handle most anything thrown at it for the resolutions I play at and I can always do EVGA's step-up within 90 days (may go to a 275, 285) and I will probably toss another card in SLI down the line.
looks pretty good to me, wel its basically the same build im getting. tho i would suggest waiting for the gtx 275 to be fully released and get that for the extra few bucks. so give it another 3 weeks and decide from there you cant rush into these things ya knw
Thanks for the feedback. I've thought about waiting for the GTX 275s but I'm still undecided on if it's worth the cost over a GTX 260-216 (~ $70 if you take rebates into account).
EVGA's step up gives me 90 days to decide if I want a 275, 285, or something else if they release it within that time.
What games will you play? Unless you play Crysis, you won't need EVGA's step up program I don't think. If you do, then go with the GTX 275. Try to get it right the first time so you don't have to pay the shipping costs.
yeah like the guy said above me its worth getting it right 1st time. anyway even if you decide not to go down the 275 route its still worth waitin to the end of the month as its release will surely drop the price of the 260 some more.
That HSF sure LOOKS cool... It weighs how much? IS IT cool? Hey, your money, but I'd not like a KG hanging off of my MB. (hint: Check out the Noctua NU12P 1366)

770g vs 876g...I don't think your MB will know the difference, especially since the bulk of the weight is at the contact of the IHS and CPU block of the HSF, so not much leverage to pull on the mb. MB are made to be able to cope with a little weight, and with the backplate supporting it, your mb will be fine.

I payed less than 12 bucks to get my step up from a GTX260 216 to a gtx295 to and from EVGA. Shipping isn't that bad. To the OP, I'd do it the way you originally planned, as that was the way I did it and have no regrets. I waited all the up until I had 3 days left to step up just so I would be up to date for a while.
