Hi.
I recently converted a DVD to .avi using ShrinkDVD and PocketDivXencoder to
play on Betaplayer and PocketMVP on my Ipaq 4150 (WM2003). The video
playback was fine but there was no audio. I got an error message saying
"audio codec(2000) not found".
Interestingly the .avi file played back fine on my laptop.
Could anyone tell me what the problem might be? Any help would be really
appreciated. Thanks.

If Betaplayer won't play it it's probably like the tool's name says,
encoded in DivX format. In that case you might want to use PocketDivX
(also known as PocketMVP) to play the avi instead ;-))

Thanks. But there is no audio when I play it back in PocketMVPlayer either.
Do you think it's a problem with the encoding process on the laptop or that
I am missing vital software (codecs etc, in light of the error message
about an audio codec not found) on my device?
Might the latest version of Betaplayer have the putative missing codecs?

OK then you need GSpot to get a definitive answer. It's a smallish
free program to determine the codecs required to render an avi stream.

Have a look at http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ at the Downloads link.

Let us know what codec combination the avi comes out as.

Thanks.
I actually just recently got it to play properly on Betaplayer. I am not
sure what I did differently this time but It may have had to do with the a
particular aspect of the audio encoding in DivXencoder and not a problem
with Betaplayer.Thanks anyway.

Glad you got it working. Next time you get it right, write down the
steps on a post-it ;-))
