I have Intel DG31PR motherboard.

I want to buy a 2*2GB memory kit.

My motherboard supports only DDR2 667/800 MHz "1.8v" memory with 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 timing spec.

I have selected Corsair XMS2 2*2GB kit but it has memory voltage of 1.9v with timings 5-5-5-18.

the other modules and kits i have selected have same timing config but they have 1.8v.

I want to go for Corsair.

now i wanna ask can i use 1.9v memory on a motherboard that states 1.8v memory only.

Is it ok to put this memory into this motherboard Intel DG31PR?

what can be consequences like damage or peformance degradation?

Please suggest which memory module or kit would be best for my motherboard?

If your BIOS will not move memory voltage above 1.8V, the odds are quite good the memory will not run at all.

Since you have absolutely no reason to go Corsair, don't. Get memory that meets specs. You already know which ones they are. Get the cheapest.

'some memory modules say 1.8-1.9v so can i use those modules?

If the modules claim to run at 1.8V, and your board can deliver 1.8V, then the modules will most likely work.

As you have felt, its a little scary when a manufacturer specifies a range so narrow. If my mobo maxed at 1.8V, I'd stay away from any memory that has an excuse to say "Well, its *either* 1.8V or 1.9V".

I don't understand why you keep pushing at stuff that could be out of spec. Here's a name brand with 5-5-5-15 1.8V that is within $5 of the cheapest no-name brand with acceptable specs:

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-4GBNT - Retail $56

the problem is in my place i dont have many options....I am not even able to get same spec even from the same manufacturer. anyways thanks fr suggestions. i will stick to 1.8v sticks.

It will work fine. All the Intel 965 boards also said 1.8v ONLY, but it has no problem running ram up to 2.2v. I've used 2.2v, 2.1v and 1.8v in the board without issues.

Now if you try to run 1.9v memory at 1.8v, you may have problems, you just need to bumb the voltage up +.1v.

In fact I have personally tried to run 2.1v memory at 1.8v and the computer would not load windows.
