i have a new server i just build and i want to use it for streaming video and audio they told if i have a server i didnt have to pay a hosting all i need is server and fast internet,i have a site i want to stream the videos to if anyone can help ill apreciate it

Well dude, you need A LOT more than just a box (server).

Judging by your question, I'm sorry to say, you're going to have a very difficult time pulling this off.

Off the top of my head, you'll need:

1) Infrastructure (physical server hardware, fast Internet connection (at least a 10Mbps up/down link ($1,000 / month easy))
2) Server side streaming technology (Adobe FMS, Wowza, etc.)
3) Client side application (aka your video platform)
4) Someone to configure and make it all work together seamlessly.

These are all costly and difficult things - go to shared hosting.
