I am currently using a q6600(overclocked 3.2ghz),4gb 1066 ram, 9800gt 512mb, on a gigabyte p-35 board. Now I am currently happy with this system, and never have any problems with games, however i do a lot of video editing too, I am wondering if it's worth the upgrade to go from the q6600 (2.4ghz stock 8mb l2) to the q9550(2.83ghz stock 12mb l2). I know i could sell my q6600 relatively easy on ebay, and just pay the balance on the q9550. What r your opinions? Also, I am very comfortable with my system and dont want to do a major overhaul,so although the core I7 and phenom 2's are nice, I'm sticking with minor upgrades for as long as possible.

no.

I don't think it's worth it. If you want more power, just push the clockspeed. Your q6600 has more power in it than you're using - if you want to use it. You might not feel good pushing it that hard all the time.

But, that's my opinion.

I have several computers running, including a Q6600 and a Q9550, both OC'd to 3.6 GHz. The Q9550 is not noticeably faster. If you are doing a lot of video editing, upgrade your hard drives.
