I built a computer a couple years ago with the Asus A8V-E SE motherboard. I purchased Vista 64 bit to go along with my new system. At the time I was unable to run Vista 64 because the drivers for my motherboard were not compatible. Is there new drivers that I can install so that I can run Vista 64 bit available now? Where do I find them and is there anything else I should be looking for that may cause problems for me?
Click on each device in the device manager under "hardware" and let windows do a search online for updated drivers. Service pack 2 for vista might have some newer drivers if you want to update. It took me 3 tries to find a device driver for xp on one of my biostar boards, but after installing all of windows updates, windows found it online.
By updating with my current version of XP it will find drivers that will work for Vista? My problem is that I can't run Vista and search for updates with my current drivers. Maybe I am not fully understanding but thanks for the info so far.
I see what you mean. Only downloads are for bios updates. I'm surprised vista didn't find more devices on it's own. Try a cheap lan card; fry's has had them for a couple of bucks on sale. Vista might find a driver for it, then you could search for more online. Otherwise, you're stuck with xp. I tried windows xp 64, and got virus attacks twice. Won't use it again.
