Hi

I am building a new computer or in the process of picking componets and have a Star ice cooler on my cuurent rig socket 775 lga. The new board i am looking at is going to be socket 1156 I know they will not be useable on the new board unless an adapter is made. Does asus make adapters or did they stop making these jet engines and I am stuck with it as a paperweight?

Yeah - it would appear to be discontinued:

It would appear to no longer be on their website, either:

You might, however, be able to get along with a different mount kit:

...they are cheap enough so you could just 'scattershot': buy a bunch in the hopes one will work out!

I guess i was also hoping it wouldn't work so I could find a quieter one that still worked well with o/c How does coolermaster rate? Zalaman seems overpriced

People obsess way too much over getting the cooler that removes one more erg of heat - it's unnecessary! Anything you get aftermarket will be head and shoulders above the supplied Intel 'rotary postage stamp', and it really, to all intents and purposes, doesn't matter - anything will work for speeds you're likely to attempt, unless you really plan to 'crank it' - and if you really plan to crank it, you should likely be considering putting it 'under water', anyway...
